The city’s most famous landmarks are the LEDERERTURM tower and the CITY WALL.  However, the BURG WELS (Wels castle) and its charming GARDEN should not be missed either.  Here you can also explore the city's permanent collection to learn more about the town's history or visit the permanent exhibition for deep insights into the region’s agricultural past. Flower lovers are certainly going to cherish the castle’s picturesque garden with its regularly changing flower arrangements. The ‘HAUS DER SALOME ALT’ on the Stadtplatz (main square), a private town-house from the renaissance era with a picturesque façade, is also well worth a visit. And let’s not forget the ‘MINORITENKLOSTER’, a Conventional Franciscan monastery founded around 1280, which displays impressive frescoes and choirs. Today the former monastery serves as an event location and archeological museum.
