Sophie Schick - YOUR HOSTESS in Boutique Hotel Hauser

“Discovering the great in the small”, that's my motivation. I want to offer our guests more than just a hotel - a comfortable home with a lot of personal charm and a familial character.

My name is Sophie Schick and I am the third generation to manage our small, lovely boutique hotel. In 2017 we were able to celebrate the 80th anniversary of our family business without seeming fusty or even old - the combination of the traditional and the modern has been lived by the family ever since.

After spending a number of years gaining experience of the international hotel industry in Munich (Mandarin Oriental Munich 5*) and Vienna (Hotel Imperial 5* and Hotel Bristol 5*), I returned to Wels full of impressions and motivation in 2009. This was the year in which I took over the management of the hotel from my father, Edmund Hauser.

From the very start, I attempted to see my family and the hotel as important elements of my life, which had a positive impact on one another. I have the energetic support of my partner Markus Linsmaier, who now also works in the hotel, and my loyal employees to thank for the fact that I had the time and the strength to complete our family with our two wonderful daughters, Luise and Ella.

The Boutique Hotel Hauser has always been known for its leading role when it comes to grasping international trends and implementing creative ideas. From an early stage, I was convinced that the energy-saving operation of the hotel and a focus on regional and products with organic certification (e.g. for breakfast) were the right paths to follow.

It’s not just my own hotel to which I am highly committed. In addition to my work as Chair of the Upper Austria Hotel Association, to which I can bring my vision, the wellbeing of my home town of Wels is also very important to me. I work with the Association of Wels Hoteliers and in the field of Wels Merchants (Kauftraum Association), and we also endeavour to support cultural associations and sometimes act as a cultural venue. Innovative events such as our sun deck or our gourmet brunch entice many Wels residents to our hotel in the pedestrian area.

In addition to our satisfied guests, the element that is most important for the success of our hotel is my employees. We also want them to be happy in their workplace. Only with a team on which I can rely one hundred percent can I meet and exceed all of our guests’ expectations. Always with a smile.
